You have encounted a DirectX 9 Error

Dream Aquarium has recently made the upgrade to using DirectX 9 from DirectX 8. This change allows Dream Aquarium to be more efficient in the way it draws it's 3D images to your screen, resulting in lower energy use, as well as paving the way for more realistic imagery. However, the fact that you are reading this page means you have experienced some DirectX 9 error. Rebooting may fix this problem, but it is more likely that you will need to update your Graphics Card Driver or DirectX. If you are on a machine under 4 years old or are running Windows Vista or 7, it's more likely that your graphics card driver is the issue. To upgrade your graphics card driver you should first identify the Make and model number of your graphics card, then go to the manufacturer's site where they almost always offer a place to download the latest driver for your card. If you have tried that and still receive an error, you should try upgrading your directX. It is a fairly simple fix - following the link below will download Microsoft's DirectX updater which will detect any missing or outdated files on your machine.

Download the updater from DreamAquarium.com

If you are unable to install DirectX 9 or wish to just stay with a DirectX 8 version of Dream Aquarium, the last version released using DirectX 8 can be found here. Keep in mind we are no longer making fixes or changes to this version, and it will not contain all the fish and features found in our latest version.
